Fostering can be short, medium or long-term. All vet care is covered and if food or equipment is requested then we are happy to provide. We also provide a foster pack full of information about helping the foster dog settle in and there's an online foster group for keeping in touch with other fosterers and our team for support.

A Dog’s Life, CHY 18640, is a totally voluntary group that works hard to give pound dogs a second chance. From June 2006 – 1st August 2013 we took dogs from South Dublin County Council (SDCC) pound, which was located just outside Dunboyne, Co. Meath.

Adopt A Dog

We have a number of criteria which must be met before we will consider a home for adopting any of our dogs.

Foster A Dog

A good foster home is extremely important so we can prepare our dogs for their new lives. All veterinary care is covered by A Dog’s Life and we will provide a crate where necessary.

Mission

We aim to highlight the plight of dogs in danger of being euthanized in Irish pounds and promote the rehoming of pound dogs. We currently mainly take dogs from Waterford City & County dog pound. Because we have no premises of our own, unless we have a suitable foster home, we cannot take a dog out of the pound into our care. We often reach out to other reputable rescues to help or to the general public to adopt dogs directly from the pound. We are also heavily dependent on donations from the public to help dogs, especially with medical bills, as some dogs come into the pound in a poor state.
