dogs For Adoption

Dogs featured here are looking for their new family. Click on their photo for more information and details of each dog’s specific rehoming criteria.

Adopting a new dog is great and we thank you for your interest in our dogs and our organisation. At A Dog’s Life, we are completely volunteer-run so can only respond to applications that meet the specific needs relevant to each individual dog. We are asking you to think carefully about whether you can meet the criteria for that dog’s needs first, before applying. While we certainly try to be accommodating, on a case by case basis, when it comes to specific needs for an individual, which are borne out of intense and long-term evaluation, there’s not much wiggle room.

Please review the general adoption criteria at the very bottom too, consult the individual requirements for the dog or dogs you like, and hit the APPLY NOW button to get the process started.

Only forms from homes that match the specific rehoming criteria for our dogs will be processed.

Criteria for ADOPTION

Follows our general rehoming criteria. These have been developed after over a decade rehoming dogs and in consultation with AniEd, our training/behaviour support.
If you are unsure whether you meet our criteria, please get in touch and we can provide guidance.

  • The person adopting the dog must be at least 23 years old, and will be the point of contact throughout the adoption process and post-adoption support. We will not rehome dogs as surprises, gifts or to a third party.

  • A donation of at least €150 will be required before adoption. This helps to cover the dog’s neutering, veterinary care including vaccination and microchipping.

  • Our dogs must live as family members, in the house with you and not confined outdoors for long periods, overnight or regularly. To adopt a dog, you must be at home with the dog much of the time; another dog, sending the dog to daycare or similar regularly are not adequate substitutes.

  • Where an applicant is not the home-owner (e.g. in rented accommodation, living with parents etc.), we may request written permission from the landlord/home owner that the dog is permitted to live there.

  • We will not home dogs to homes using ‘invisible’/shock fences as boundaries. Where a boundary is relevant, it must be a solid dog-proof fence or wall and appropriate to the individual dog, bearing in mind that dogs may climb, jump and dig!

  • Our dogs will be neutered before rehoming, or where too young, will be neutered by us at a suitable date.

  • A Dog’s Life reserves the right to refuse any adoption application.

  • By adopting a dog from A Dog’s Life, you are acknowledging and accepting full responsibility for the dog’s safety, health, veterinary care, appropriate enrichment and full legal responsibility for any injury, loss or damages sustained by a third party or caused by the dog.

If you meet these criteria and those for the specific individual dog, hit APPLY NOW below. Fill out the form and once submitted, we will be in touch with you as soon as we can to discuss your application.

Applications that do not match our general or specific criteria will not be processed.
